District 131 celebrates Black History MonthDistrict 131 celebrates Black History Month

What a wonderful celebration we all shared on February 24, as District 131 hosted a Black History Month Celebration at East High. The event, entitled “The Great Migration: Standing on the Past, Celebrating the Present & Believing in the Future” brought together students, staff and community members, and included student drama performances, uplifting gospel music and a delicious soul food meal.

Thank you to all our amazing performers and dedicated planners who made the celebration special, including students from East High, our NJROTC Color Guard, the Benavides STEAM Academy, students from Cowherd, Simmons and Waldo Middle Schools, The District 131 Black History Gospel Choir, under the direction of Barbetta Neil, our good friends at Sodexo, and the 2018 Black History Month Celebration Committee.
